Arthur Vaughan is known for his mixed media paintings with multiple viewpoints, texture and imaginative appeal. He develops his work intuitively, in dialogue with the emerging image, while retaining a critical eye for aesthetics and composition. He particularly explores humanity’s interaction with nature.
He exhibited extensively with the NZ Academy of Fine Art during a recent residency in New Zealand, receiving the curator’s prize in 2021. He has regularly sold works through the annual A4 exhibition of the Contemporary Arts Society of Victoria and was selected as a finalist in the Lethbridge Small Art Award (2016).
His work is represented in private collections around the world.
A self-directed learner, he has undertaken private tuition in drawing, non-accredited courses at the Australian National University and the University of Tasmania, and extensive private studies into drawing, colour and composition. He completed a MA (Qual) with high distinction in Art History at the ANU.
